Position Overview:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for KJ Therapeutic Learning Center serves as a vital direct service provider, delivering direct care to clients in home-based settings. The CNA assists with personal care, daily living activities, and health monitoring for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires travel to clients’ homes and a commitment to supporting their independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Care & Personal Assistance
- Deliver personalized care services, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while prioritizing client comfort and dignity.
- Support client mobility through safe transfers from beds, chairs, and wheelchairs, and provide ambulation assistance as required.
- Assist with feeding and ensure clients receive proper nutrition in alignment with individualized care plans.
- Maintain clients' personal dignity by ensuring they are neatly dressed, groomed, and hygienic at all times.
Medication Assistance:
- Support clients in self-administering medications and delivering medications to clients.
- Review medication labels and ensure clients take the proper dosage.
- Assist with the application of topical medications.
- Maintain accurate records of all medication assistance provided.
Home Environment Maintenance:
- Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy home environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks, including tidying living areas, bathrooms, and kitchens.
- Help clients arrange and organize their personal living spaces to promote comfort and safety.
- Encourage client independence by supporting their involvement in home maintenance activities when suitable.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of formal training and certification as a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, with evidence provided.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in home healthcare or group home settings, particularly in home care jobs.
- Physical capability to push or pull 50 pounds or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Availability to work on holidays and during inclement weather.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Genuine desire to serve and care for others.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively, overcoming barriers and obstacles.
- Active Certified Nurse Assistant license.
